A VIP Day on the Cap Cana Coast

Three things, really: a private catamaran cruise, lunch on a tropical beach, and a swim in crystal-clear lagoons. Good so far? It gets better.

The whole day plays out on the grounds of the Punta Cana Club & Resort — 15,000 acres of high-end resorts, beachfront villas, chic restaurants, a protected ecological reserve, and some of the most striking beaches and turquoise water in the Caribbean.

Out on the Catamaran

You'll board a spacious dual-hull catamaran at the Punta Cana Marina, with still, aquamarine water running clear to the horizon. The bar opens as we drift lazily along this private coast — drink in hand, working on your tan. We'll only break the spell twice: once at an offshore sandbar, where the water's barely waist-deep and drinks come to you from a floating bar, and once to snorkel a tropical reef full of colorful fish.

Lunch at Playa Blanca

Then it's lunch at the Playa Blanca Restaurant, a laid-back meal on a genuinely stunning Caribbean beach — ivory sand, coconut palms and a glassy, sea-green ocean behind you. Expect a several-course spread built around local seafood, with Dominican staples and sweets alongside.

Into the Lagoons

The Taíno people called their lagoons Ojos Indígenas — "Indigenous Eyes." A dozen of them sit sheltered within the Punta Cana Ecological Reserve, at the southern edge of the resort. Each one is fed by an underground river of pure water and shaded by the surrounding mangrove forest. Take the short walk in, and jump straight in.

This is an intimate outing with only a handful of spots, so book ahead. A day spent cruising, eating, drinking and swimming the Caribbean coast you've been picturing — this is the one you'll remember.
